The Affirmative Action Committee will be holding a meeting at St Laurence
Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 8th at 6:30pm. The focus of this
meeting will be on identifying underrepresented groups in Senate District 59
and discussing how we can improve the ways we reach out to these groups. I
also hope to discuss what resources we can develop to support our candidates
…efforts in reaching minority communities, and the activities taking place on
our three college campuses and what we can do to support those as well.
While this meeting is open to everyone, if you are not a committee member I
will not guarantee you time to speak. If you are interested in joining this
committee, please contact me and/or our secretary Greg Oliver. In the
interest of keeping this meeting focused on Affirmative Action issues, I ask
that any events, fundraisers, or other causes that wish to be promoted to
attendees of this meeting be submitted in writing by noon on the 8th. Elected
officals, representatives from campaigns, constituency caucuses and other
groups are more than welcome to attend, but formal presentations or long
speeches will not be allowed.
If you have ideas or concerns related to the Affirmative Action Committee but
are unable to attend this meeting, please contact me before the meeting, so we
can include your thoughts in our discussions.
